JAPANESE SCIENTISTS OBJECT (From a Reuter Correspondent.) TOKYO. The Seismological Society of Japan has entered politics and international diplomacy. It objects to plans that the United States forces in Japan should use a volcano’s slopes as a training area. , ~ In a statement issued recently the society said that if Mount Asama, in Nagano Province, Central Japan,,was used as a military manoeuvre ground “free researches on the volcano would be totally hampered.” The society says, “World academic circles are watching with keen interest . the researches on Asama under the joint auspices of the Earthquake Research Institute of Tokyo University and the Central Meteorological Observatory The Japanese have also objected to the training of American troops on the sacred slopes of Mount Fuji.
