N.Z. TEAM WINS AT SYDNEY (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)

SYDNEY, July 17. The north section of the New Zealand badminton team, which began its Australian tour last night, won all its matches against the Sydney Badminton Association. The only member of the team to ba extended was the champion, J. Robson, who had to fight hard to beat Lin Ah Foo, a Malayan student at the Sydney University, 15-8, 15-12. The game in the second set was particularly close, and see-sawed at 8-all and 10-all for some minutes. Robson's attack on Lin's backhand gave him an opening for the final winning points. Other results were:— Robson and Bouchier beat Ferguson and Smith, 15-5; Scott and Bouchier beat Jeffrey and Whelan, 21-8; Robson and Robson beat Gilruth and McKeown, 21-6; Robson and Scott beat Searo and Impey, 21-L SELWYN LEADS IN A GRADE COMPETITION. Second round games in the Canterbury Badminton Association’s competition! resulted as follows: A Grade.—St. Saviour's 11, Olyi*|te 5; Selwyn 13. Christchurch 3; Knox 13, Ashgrove 3. B Grade.—Kaiapol 11, Knox 5; Railway 10, St. Albans 6; -Selwyn 11, Training College 5; Ashgrove 8, St. Matthew’* 8.
