N.Z. LILY SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING Plans to celebrate the twenty-first anniversary of the founding of the New Zealand Lily Society next month were made last evening at the society’s annual meeting. The New Zealand society is the oldest lily society in the world. It was founded by Dr. T. Fletcher Telford and Mr F. J. Shanks some time before the English Horticultural Society’s lily group was established.
The financial statement presented last evening showed a credit balance of £lO6 19s.
Membership of the society stood at 362, some of whom are in Australia, South Africa, and North America.
The following officers were elected: patron. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes; president, Dr. J. E. Saville; immediate pastpresident, Mr J. O. Kidson; vice-presi-dents, 10 were elected; secretary, Mr S. G. Prebble: treasurer, Mr H. L. Towart; librarian, Mr G. Street; committee, Mesdames J. Carr, A. C. MeKillop, Messrs J. Watling, J. S. Shimmin, J O’Toole. Mr W. W. C. Cosgrove was elected an honorary life member.
