AUSTRALIA DRAWS WITH YORKSHIRE

With Home Team LONDON, June 23. Australia drew with Yorkshire at Sheffield today, but the honours of the match were with Yorkshire. A partnership between Miller (86) and Hill (31) carried Australia’s first innings total to 323, and Yorkshire in their second innings had scored 220 for three wickets when bad light ended play half an hour before stumps. With a draw certain, Miller did not overwork the test bowlers in Yorkshire’s second innings, and he used Harvey, Hole, de Courcy and Craig. Hutton, who scored an impressive 84, was dropped twice. A welcome sign for Australia was Miller’s return as a bowler. Johnston, striving to regain form, was unlucky. Hutton was twice dropped off him before he finally got his wicket.
