LABOURERS’ AWARD INCREASES

Under the new award for builders labourers quarry workers, tunnellers arid general labourers issued by the Court of Arbitration the increase for builders’ and sub-contractors’ labourers is 3d a week, making the new wage £9 10s lOd a week. Casual workers will receive 4s 9sd an hour, an increase of_id an hour. The minimum rate of wages for labourers employed by firms bound by the award will now be £9 3s 4d a week, an increase of 5d a week. For casual workers the rate will be 4s 7d an hour, an increase of an hour.
