ROYAL AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
CONSTITUTIONAL CHANGE ADVOCATED (From Our Own Reporter) . WELLINGTON, June 23. Claiming that at present the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand had no power to enforce its rules on constituent agricultural and pastoral associations, the Northern District Council of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations proposed, at the society’s annual conference today, the adoption of a remit designed to strengthen the society’s authority. The remit was:—“The the society should revise and amend its constitution and rules to enable it to enforce its authority on all affiliated societies for their welfare, recognising that all affiliated societies must 'stand firmly behind the Royal Agricultural Society in the coming years, which will have a great influence on all such societies’ future and welfare.” The remit was referred to the executive, which will bring down recommendations to next year’s conference.
An exhibition of the work of correspondence school pupils will be held in Wellington from June 30 to July 3. It is expected that about 280 children and 160 parents from isolated districts of the Dominion will attend.
