TRAINING OF TEACHERS

Sir,—l was interested to read today that teacher trainees are to specialise in work from Primer 1 to Standard 2 and from Standard 3 to Form 11. This, no doubt, is a very commendable practice for future town teachers. In which group do the future ‘‘sole charge” teachers receive their training? To be successful headmasters of the future, students should get as wide a view as possible of work from Primer 1 to Form II. —Yours, etc., • COUNTRY TEACHER. Westland, June 18, 1953.
