DUNEDIN M.P. TO TO RETIRE
MR R. WALLS NOT SEEKING RE-ELECTION (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 20. Mr R. Walls, Labour member of Parliament for North Dunedin since 1945, today announced that he would not seek re-election next year. Mr Walls has represented the Labour Party on the city council, the Otago Hospital Board and thp Otago Harbour Board, as well as' being a member of Parliament. He had been in ill-health for some time, but this is not the reason for his retirement from active politics, as his health has improved. “I feel it is time I stood down and gave a younger man a chance,*’ he said.
