TRAIN BLOWN UP IN BURMA
REBELS KILL FIVE (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) RANGOON, May 20. Burmese rebels blew up a passenger train 50 miles east of Rangoon, killing five persons and injuring many. The rebels, after derailing the train by dynamiting the track, looted the passengers’ property. The through service from Rangoon to Mandalay is paralysed. A rebel attempt to blow up a goods train was foiled. The rebels fired several rounds at the engine while the train was slowly negotiating a curve, but the driver accelerated and managed to get the train through to safety.
