OXFORD BEATEN BY INNINGS
Miller Takes Three For 19 LONDON, May 21. Australia beat Oxford by an innings and 86 runs today. The pitch was slightly damp after overnight rain, but it did not play tricks, except for some variations in the height of the bounce. Birrell and Williams supplied some of the backbone that had been missing in the first innings, and after lunch they added a run a minute. The partnership put on 86, then Williams played forward to Benaud and edged the ball on to Langley’s pads whence it rebounded into De Courcy’s hands in slips. Birrell followed in the next over, falling to a catch by Langley. Half the Oxford side was out for 103, then Fellows-Smith carried on brightly to compile 50 before being dismissed by Langley off a ball from Miller. Scores: AUSTRALIA
