AUSTRALIAN HELD IN KOREA

SOVIET THANKED FOR AID IN RELEASE (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 21. Mr John McMillan, the Australian Charge d’Affaires in Moscow, thanked Mr Molotov today for communicating to the North Koreans an Australian request for the release of an interned Roman Catholic priest, Father Philip Crosbie. Mr McMillan used the occasion of his first formal call since Mr Molotov’s appointment to thank the new Soviet Foreign Minister.

An Embassy spokesman said the visit was brief and agreeable. The Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed Mr McMillan yesterday that Father Crosbie was being released on Tuesday and was expected in Moscow within a fortnight.
