WASHHOUSE DAMAGED BY FIRE

A washhouse attached to a house at 93 Nayland street, Sumner, occupied by Mr E. N. Buttle, was severely damaged by fire yesterday afternoon. Slight damage was done to the house and its contents before the fire was extinguished. A call to the fire was received by the Christchurch Fire Brigade at 3.16 p.m. Units from the Sumner and Woolston brigades were quickly on the scene and stopped the fire from spreading.
