N.Z. BRASS BAND

PART IN CORONATION PROCESSION (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 17. The New Zealand Brass Band, which will leave tomorrow for its overseas tour, will take an official part in the Coronation procession, and will play on the route from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. This was announced today by the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) when speaking at the Parliamentary reception and farewell to the band. In a later statement, Mr Holland said that, as the Coronation procession itself was a purely military occasion, only military bands could take part. The Government felt, however, that it would be appropriate if some special arrangements could be made to associate the New Zealand band with the procession.

He was glad, said Mr Holland, that that view had now been accepted. The announcement was greeted with applause by the bandsmen and members of Parliament present at the reception. Both Mr Holland and the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Nash) said that they would undoubtedly see the band when they arrived in London for the Coronation.
