N.Z. IMPORTS OF POTATOES
TASMANIAN GROWERS SEEK- SHARE (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) HOBART, April 9. The hope that Tasmania would share in the immediate importation, to New Zealand of up to 3000 tons of potatoes was expressed at Burnie last night by Mr C. G. Wragg, chairman of the State Potato Marketing Board. He was commenting on the announcement by the New Zealand Minister of Agriculture (Mr K. J. Holyoake) that the New Zealand Government would authorise this importation immediately. Mr Wragg said that irrespective of which Australian State would ship the potatoes to New Zealand, the scheme would be of immense benefit to all markets. Having in mind the excellent shipments and export business to New Zealand last year, it would be a good thing for producers if New Zealand took further supplies from Tasmania.
