A driverless speedboat crashed during a regatta held on the Blue Lake, Rotorua, in heavy rain on Monday. The boat, which was new, was entered in competition for the first time. It struck a trough in a wave, and the driver. Mr H. Biddle, of Tauranga, was thrown from the cockpit into the water. The craft righted itself and careered out of control about a mile across the lake before striking a clay bank. The bow was shattered.
