ILLNESS OF MR EDEN

MR CHURCHILL WILL CARRY BURDEN (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, April 7. The British Foreign Secretary (Mr R. A. Eden) discussed the series of Russian peace moves from his sick bed yeterday. Mr Eden, who will undergo a serious operation in the next few days, saw the British Ambassador to Moscow (Sir Alvary Gascoigne) on the eve of the Ambassador’s return to Moscow tomorrow. Mr Churchill is likely to take over the burden of many of Mr Eden’s international responsibilities during Mr Eden’s illness. Mr Eden’s deputy, Mr Selwyn Lloyd, is expected to visit Norway tomorrow on a short goodwill tour.
