CANTERBURY MEN MEET

The date on which striking tradesmen at Canterbury freezing works will return to work will not be known until tomorrow, at the earliest.

A meeting of tradesmen was held in the Trades. Hall yesterday afternoon to hear reports from officials. They had voted earlier bf a majority of two to one, to resume work on the day the disputes committee sits. “When the committee sits depends on the employers’ reply to the union’s representations on the order of reference,” said Mr R. Jones, secretary of the Canterbury Engineers’ Union. “The secretary of the North Island Freezing Works’ Association has informed the unions that he expects to be able to give his reply on Thursday.”
