Foot-And-Mouth Disease Sweeps Europe
(N.Z. Press Association^ Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, May 10. Foot-and-mouth disease, which has led Britain to ban the movement of cattle throughout England and Wales, is sweeping Europe, causing widespread losses. The disease is reported in France, Denmark, Holland, Italy, Germany and Austria. The World Federation of Animal Protection, which has been meeting at The Hague, will make-an international study of the medical treatment of the disease, as opposed to the British method of slaughtering all infected cattle. Some countries are using a vaccine, .but it is difficult to obtain enough.
