BRITISH NAVAL CATAPULT

LONDON, December 28. The Admiralty has developed a new type of catapult, so powerful that it can launch the biggest atom bombers from the decks of aircraft carriers even when the ship is at anchor, states the “Daily Telegraph.” The carrier, .Perseus, will sail for the United States to show the new catapult to American defence chiefs. There the catapult, which has already undergone 14 months’ trials, will be subjected to further tests with the heaviest American Naval aircraft, some of them appreciably heavier than any used by the Royal Navy. The catapult is steam-powered.
