SYDNEY-HOBART YACHT RACE
STRUEN MARIE WINS ON HANDICAP (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) HOBART, Dec 30. All three placed boats in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, which was decided to-day, beat the previous record time of four days and five hours established bv the Sydney cutter Morna in 1948-49. . For the second successive year the Margaret Rintoul crossed the line first, in 4 days 2hr 29min. She was followed by the Lass O’luss (4 days, 3hr 12min) and the Struen Mane (4 days 3hr 38£min). The three place-getters are all from S3 The y outright winner of the race is the Struen Marie, Mr T. A. Williamson’s 35-ft sloop. Her corrected time was 2 days 19hr 48£min. No other yacht yet to finish can beat her on k a The Nocturne, the J’% tuna w Lahara, the Pavana and the Solveig are all in the Derwent nver. The former English yacht, the Katchinwar, has not been sighted since soon after leaving Sydney, but it is thought she went well out to sea. Yachting officials are not anxious about her. Two other yachts not seen for some days are the Wayfarer and the Nimbus.
