WAR VETERANS’ ALLOWANCE
R.S.A. OPPOSES CHANGB IN SYSTEM (New Zealand Press Association)
OAMARU, September !•■ A strong protest against the merger of the war veterans’ allowance with social security and the proposal to discontinue granting universal superannuation to future applicants for ths war veterans’ allowance was made st the quarterly meeting of the Oamaru Returned Services' Association last evening. The following resolution carried,* “The association wholeheartedly associates itself with the resolution of the Geraldine Returned Services Association, strongly protesting at the merger of the war veterans' allowance with social security, and the proposal to discontinue granting future applicants for the war veteran* allowance universal superannuation in addition to their allowance." Mr W. Burdett, who moved the resolution, said the Returned Service* Association was fighting to retain something it had been given previously as a right.
