BRITISH “FESTIVAL SHIP”
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND SUGGESTED
(New Zealand Press Association)
AUCKLAND, September 15. The suggestion that Britain's “Festival Ship” should visit New Zealand was made in Auckland to-day. The “Festival Ship," the 16,000 ton Campania, is a floating exhibition of art, science, and industry. She has recently visited some of the larger seaports in Britain.
“A visit by the ‘Festival Ship’ to New Zealand and Australia is an excellent idea,” said the Mayor of Auckland (Sir John Allum). when the suggestion was referred to him to-day. “It would really show the people of the Commonwealth just what Britain can do, and would be a means of bringing the Festival of Britain to thousands who would otherwise never see it.”
