ATTACK ON MR ATTLEE

Bevan Group’s Pamphlet .

(Rec. 8.30 p.m.)- LONDON. Sept. 18. The political correspondent of to “People” said to-day that Mr Bevan and the two otaer Ministers who resigned from the Government five months ago have prepared an indictment of Mr Attlee which makes a series of bitter attacks on his conduct Of the nation’s affairs. The correspondent said the indictment is a pamphlet entitled “Going Our Way," with chapters written by Mr Bevan. Mr Harold Wilson, end Mr John Freeman, and that it will be issued this week. The pamphlet will appear just before the Labour Party’s annual conference and is designed to force a change in Government policy before the General Election. The correspondent said it Is understood the pamphlet charged that—(l) The Government deliberately exaggerated the size of Russia's armed forces to justify Britain’s heavy rearmament programme. (2) The Labour Party’s anti-Franco sentiment has been violated by the Government’s, tame acquiescence in the military alliance signed by America with Spain. (3) Though America "hogged” raw materials badly needed by Britain, there has been no effective protest from the Government.
