PERMITTED LIQUOR IN CABARET
WELLINGTON MAN FINED (New Zealand Pre.w AstoeuUim) WELLINGTON, August 31 The practice of the Majestic Cabaret Wellington, of taking and storing liquor found on patrons as they entered the bu ilding was a free senta to patrons—a cor.fless storage of their liquor—and fixeel upon the manage rqent definite conduct directly allocated with the arrival of liquor on prohibited premises, which was not invented by the management, said ® R. M. Grant. S.M.. in a judgment delivered in the Magistrate's Court today. The case was one in which Frederick Carr, managing director of New Zealand Attractions. Ltd., had pleaded not guiltv to permitting liquor to be taken into the Majestic Cabaret when he had the management of a dance there. Carr was fined £l5. Mr S. G. Stephenson, the defence counsel, sought security for appeal which was fixed at £lO 10s.
