—-eANNUAL CONFERENCE BEGINS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. July 4. Delegates representing 4600 railway officers met at Wellington to-day for the annual conference of the New Zealand , Railway Officers’ Institute. The’ conference, which is expected to last until next Tuesday, was officially onened bv the Minister of Railways (Mr W. S. Goosman), who was accompanied by the General Manager of Railways (Mr F. W. Aickin). Remits to be discussed concern salaries, penal rates, promotion, regrading, annual leave, housing, and the Government Railway Act, 1949.
