SYDNEY The investment market was generally strong at Sydney yesterday. A notable feature was the spectacular rise of A.C.I. shares, which climbed to 69s 3d—a total rise of 7s 6d in a month. The reason was market talk of a further share issue. Bananas and oranges are at present out of stock and no word is yet to hand of supplies coming forward. Lemons are in very short supply and are being strictly rationed by most retailers. A general slackness in trade is reported, due, according to shopkeepers, to the imminence of the last day of grace for the payment of income tax and rates. Every year, it is said, a similar state of affairs obtains at this time.
