B.B.C. BROADCASTS ARRANGED

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 31. Two representatives of the British Broadcasting Corporation arrived by Skymaster from Sydney to-day for the Empire Games. They said that listeners in Britain would hear running commentaries on the games on home •nd light service programmes. These commentaries would be given by New Zealand commentators, whom they considered very good. “We have come to organise 8.8. C. coverage and afterwards are going to Wellington to look at broadcasting in New Zealand.” said Mr Patrick Jubb. representative of the corporation in Australia and New Zealand. Mr George Looker, organiser for th? Pacific and South Africa, said that games commentaries would be relayed to every overseas country participating. SEATS FOR FORMER ATHLETES (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. January 31. Full provision has been made for former prominent track and field athletes to secure seats at the Empire , Games, said the chairman of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association (Mr H. I. Austad) to-day in reply to an inquiry. Mr Austad said that such individuals had been given preferential treatment through the various centres affiliated to the national organisation.

AIRCRAFT FULL FOR AUCKLAND TRIPS

(New Zealand Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 31. National Airways and Tasman Empire Airways aeroplanes and flyingboats are running full with passengers for the Empire Games. National Airways have added 50 special flights to their normal timetable flights during the period, and Tasman Empire Airways have almost doubled their service between Sydney and Auckland. Since early in December, the National Airways network has handled more passengers than during any previous ’holiday period.
