MOUNTAIN TARN: CARISBROOK
RECENT ADDITIONS TO . EDWARDS’S TEAM Mountain Tarn and Carisbrook are recent additions to S. A. Edwards’s team at Addington. A six-year-old mare, Mountain Tarn showed good form when trained by P. C. Williams at Methven earlier in the season to gain three wins and three minor placings, her wins being in the first division of the Geraldine Trot at the Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting on October 15, in tlfe first division of the Blaketown Handicap, and in the Hurricane Handicap at the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting in October. A likely improver. Mountain Tarn is by Red Shadow from Mountain Jewel, a Blue Mountain King mare which left other winners in Mountain Hall to Dillon Hall, and Baby Grand to Lusty Voio. Carisbrook, an aged gelding by Grattan Loyal from Lu Parrish, has won several races for Mr H. Berry, for whom he was trained by his father, E. A. Berry, who is leaving with his wife to-day for Australia.
A good track-worker, Carisbrook has the ability to win his way to better company.
Improving On the strength of his fourth in the New Year Handicap on the first day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting, Remlap was sent out third favourite for the January Handicap on the concluding day of the meeting on Saturday, and he gave a solid performance to finish third. Remlap, which appears to be improving with racing, may soon win a race for Mr J. Palmer. At New Brighton <
