-The Press" Special Service
DUNEDIN, January 31. The best half-mile at Wingatui this morning was done by Jamell, which will run in the Hornby High-weight Handicap at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s summer meeting at Riccarton on Saturday. He tbok 13 2-ssec for the first furlong of his gallop on "the course proper, and completed his task in 49 2-ssec. He was travelling easily at the post. Jamell will be ridden by the Invercargill horseman, K. E. Wilson, who rode the Nightly gelding when he won at the New Zealand Cup meeting. Even with Jl—l3, Jamell will have bright prospects. Fine Night, an acceptor for the Midsummer Handicap, was travelling comfortably on terms with Dinnyhazer at the end of seven furlongs on the outside of the sand in Imin 31 l-ssec, the last halfmile in 51 2-ssec. It was a good effort on the part of Dinnyhazer, which has not been in work long. He has filled out a lot and is well forward.
