MR BOWDEN VISITS CHRISTCHURCH
NEW MINISTER’S BUSY DAY The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr C. M. Bowden) had a busy day yesterday, on his first visit to Christchurch as a Minister. Mr Bowden said he was here "to listen and to learn.”
He attended the monthly meeting of the executive of the Wheat Committee in the morning. Later he Yisitdd the Christchurch office of the Department of Industries and Commerce, where he met the district officer (Mr H. F. Larsen) and members of the staff. Mr Bowden also had a conference with the chairman of the Linen Flax Corporation (Mr F. Johnson) and other local directors of the corporation.
This morning he will meet a deputation from the New Zealand Flour Millers’ Society, and representatives of the New Zealand Bakers’ and Flourmillers’ Federation. He will also visit various Government departments under his control. With his private secretary t Mr J. M. Bremner) he will return to Wellington by the steamer express this evening. To-morrow and on Friday he has a heavy list of engagements with representatives of many industries in Wellington.
