FOOD CONSUMPTION IN BRITAIN

MARSHALL PLAN SURVEY QUOTED

(Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 24. The Paris correspondent of the Associated Press says that a Marshall Plan survey shows that Britain, with the stiffest and most persistent of rationing systems, has a food consumption of 99 per cent, of that before the war. Only Ireland, with 102 per cent., and Belgium, with 100 per cent., are Both of these countries have abolished rationing, but the survey says that Britain’s diet includes highcalory foods such as bread and potatoes instead of more nourishing items, especially meat and fats.
