turkey replies to RUSSIA WK. 8 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 24. Ankara correspondent of the British United Press says that the Angara radio last night told Moscow that the real reason for Turkey’s heavy defence expenditure was the threaten}°g Policy of Russia. It was replying ‘O allegations by the Moscow radio Turke- was paying heavily for Oe fe n ce ‘‘to benefit the United States.” The Ankara radio said that after the War Russia did not want to maintain « Pood-neighbour policy with Turkey joa did not want to renew a friendship **eaty. Instead Russia asked for military bases and opened a war of nerves.
f o therefore we maintain high defence costs to protect ourselves from a satellite.” said the Ankara 2UIO. “The responsibility for this expenditure rests on Russia.”
