RICCARTON AMALGAMATION
Sir,—Whatever the rights and wrongs of the case as reported in “The Press” to-day. one feels pretty sure that the desire of a majority of the Citv Council for Riccarton amalgamation is right. After all, the park was not, meent to create two towns, it is merely the centre of one. No Riccarton man abroad, say, in America, would be more inclined to say he came from Riccarton than from Christchurch. There is nothing to be eshamed of. It may be admitted that Kircarton brains in the City Council will improve the general outlook, but parochialism at the expense of the city is undesirable. —Yours, etc., C.B.A. November 24, 1949.
