HYDATIDS
Sir, —Callous indifference, after digesting your Monday’s sub-leader, would be criminal. Your facts hit hard., but they bounce off a public that considers itself prosperous and happy. Of the yearly hundred or more treated persons in New Zealand, would it be possible to learn the respective numbers from town and country? One presumes that the arecoline drug is used in Iceland and Argentina. So the. Department of Agrir culture regards the compulsory dosing of dogs as impracticable. From this f-lthy thing many are suffering agonies and numbers dying. The cause is known. The cure is known—yet those in authority refuse to act. The suggestion in your article’s last sentence is all that is required.—Yours, etc., E.W.T. November 23, 1949.
