Prowler in Madras Street.—The sound of a man attempting to open the back door of her house in Madras street, near the river, about 1.30 a.m. yesterday, awakened a woman who was alone in the house. She turned on a light and then heard the man go round the side of the house and attempt- to go through a trellis gate. As he could not get through he turped back and was heard to go over the back fence. Last evening the woman said she thought the area needed strict watching. Her house had been broken and entered in the afternoon some time ago and she had also seen a man prowling round one other evening.
