The property was that of Lucy Ellen Buxton. The fire was put out without difficulty. At 12.25 p.m. the St. Albans division and the central brigade answered a call to a grass-Are between Fendalton road and Wroxton terrace, Fendalton. The fire, which was on a railway embankment, was probably caused by a passing train. Five minutes later the central brigade answered a call to a grass fire on embankment further down the railway line near Searells road, probably started by the same train. The Sydenham division and an engine from headquarters answered the call at 3.11 p.m. At 6.02 p.m. the central and St. Albans brigades answered a call to a rubbish fire at 46 Albany street, St. Albans, a property occupied by Richard John Thomas.
