SALES OF GOLD BY SOUTH AFRICA
WARNING BY WORLD MONETARY FUND NEW YORK, February 27. The International Monetary Fund has warned South Africa that it will not tolerate any more sales of gold at “premium” prices, because the gold might go into the European black market. The fund strongly protested against South Africa’s sale of 100.000 ounces of semi-manufactured gold to a London brokerage firm at 16s an ounce above the established world price.
