FIFTY ACRES OF SCRUB DESTROYED

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, February 27. Blackberry pickers are believed to have been responsible for starting a fire which destroyed 50 acres of scrub at Glen Eden on Saturday. After fighting the blaze for nine hours, the Glen Eden and Henderson volunteer fire brigades brought it under control and prevented the destruction of a further 200 to 300 acrei.
