GORDON WINS WELTER TITLE CRUICKSHANK BEATEN ON POINTS (P.A.) NAPIER, February 27. In a bout dominated by in-fighting and which went the full 15 rounds, Clarne Gordon (Otahuhu) took the New Zealand professional welter boxing title on a points decision from the titleholder, lan Cruickshank. at Napier on Saturday. Gordon outboxed Cruickshank, although the latter had some slight advantage in the in-fighting. In the first and third rounds Gordon was cautioned for hitting low, and when Cruickshank went down in the fifteenth round for counts of three, six, and two, he appealed for a foul.
