MR ANTHONY EDEN

VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH NEXT MONTH A two-day visit to Christchurch will be made early next month by Mr Anthony Eden, deputy-leader of the British Conservative Party and a former Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. Mr Eden will arrive at Harewood aerodrome on February 7 at 12.10 p.m. and will remain in the city till the following Wednesday morning. Mr Eden, who will be accompanied by Commander A. H. R. Noble, M.P., D. 5.0., R.N., a son of Admiral Sir Percy Noble, will be met at the aerodrome by the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr E. H. Andrews), who will lunch with the visitors at the United Service Hotel.

In the afternoon, the Mayor will accompany Mr Eden on a motor tour of the city. A civic reception will be given in the Civic Theatre in the evening, after which a supper party will be held by the Mayor in the council chamber.

Mr Eden will spend the next day visiting farms in districts near Christchurch, with a visit to the Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln if possible.
