AUSTRIA TO BUY FROM JUGOSLAVIA

E.R.P. FUNDS TO BE USED (Rec. 8 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 25. Marshall Plan purchasing behind the Iron Curtain was again approved today, when Austria was authorised 10 procure 134,000 dollars’ worth of timber fx;om Jugoslavia. This is the third time since the beginning of the European Recovery Programme that procurements from Jugoslavia have been authorised. The earlier ones, made in 1948. were for 126,000 dollars’ worth of lead for Austria and 132,000 dollars’ worth of copper for Bizonia.

Higher Pay on Sydney Waterfront.— From next week Sydney watersiders will receive the record rate of 12s 6d an hour for Sunday work. With the basic wage increase the normal rate will be increased to 5s an hour, which will make the Sunday rate of double time add a half 12s 6d. In 1938 Watersiders were paid 2s lid an hour for day shift work.—Sydney, Jan. 26.
