BRITISH PERMISSION TO DUTCH
PLANES MAY REFUEL AT MAURITIUS
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 26. It is officially disclosed that Britain has given Dutch aeroplanes flying to and from Indonesia landing and refuelling rights in Mauritius. The Dutch application to use the island was made under the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, which provides for the granting of such facilities by the signatory States. (India forbade the use of her airfields by 7'utch aircraft as a protest against the Dutch military action against the Republican Government in Indonesia.)
It is emphasised that the British decision covers only civilian flights and will apply to the regular Royal Dutch airliners flying between Europe and Batavia.
