LADY BUCK

GOOD RECOVERY FROM INJURIES

Lady Buck has arrived in Auckland from Honolulu with her husband. Sir Peter Buck, the eminent New ZeaJana scientist. It is her first visit to New Zealand for 14 years and she has many friendships to revive, as well as a sister. Mrs Ledley Ferens, to see in Dunedin.

Four months ago, when she fell and broke a hip, the prospect of a trip to New Zealand in January might have seemed remote to Lady Buck. She made a slow but satisfactory recovery, and although now walking with the aid of crutches, she is determined to let nothing mar the enjoyment of her visit. Lady Buck was created a member of the Order of the British Empire during the First World War. being among the first chosen to receive this honour when the Empire Order was created. She received it for her work in army hospitals in Egypt and later in a New Zealand hospital at Hornchurch. Essex. During the Second World War, Lady Buck worked with the Red Cross in Honolulu.

Mrs E. A. R. Rogs and her niece, Mrs J. Waterhouse Damon, accompanied Sir Peter Buck and Lady Buck. Mrs Ross is noted for her hospitality in* Honolulu and her guests have included many prominent New Zealanders.
