IMMIGRANTS COME BY PLANE
DELAYED BY GROUNDING OF QUEEN MARY
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. January 26. Several familes, including a group of 12. comprised the 32 passengers brought to Auckland by a chartered Skymaster of Pacific Overseas Airlines (Siam). Limited, this afternoon. All the passengers were from Britain. They intend to live in New Zealand. They were forced to charter a special aircraft, as they were held up when the liner Queen Mary went aground off Cherbourg at the beginning of this month, and consequently missed their regular airline connexion. The immigrants came to New Zealand under a travel service organised by a British firm which undertakes to secure passages to New Zealand across the Atlantic by steamer, by rail across the United States, and by air from San Francisco. Some of the party are remaining in Auckland. Others went south by train to-night to their future homes.
