BUST OF VON HAAST
Sir, —On a recent visit to the Museum I noticed the bust of its great founder, Sir Julius von Haast, had been removed from its long occupied place, and been relegated to a dusty corner. Was there any adequate reason for this? —Yours, etc., HONOUR TO WHOM DUE.
January 24, 1949. [“The bust was for many years inside the mammal room, but was recently moved to a position in the entrance hall which is prominent, well lit and has the approval of Dr. Heinrich von Haast of Wellington,” said the Curator of the Museum (Mr R. S. Duff). He suggested that the correspondent see him if he was not satisfied.]
