N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS AT WANGANUI ROSS BEATS MCCLYMONT IN OPEN EVENT (P.A.) WANGANUI. January 2«. The lawns were very tricky to-day when the New Zealand croquet championships were continued. The weather was fine. In the open championship semi-final. A. G. Ross iPalmerston North) beat D. McClymont (Wanganui}. A minor surprise was caused when Kirk and Mrs Kirk (Geraldine) beat A. G. Ross (Palmerston North) and A. E. Ogier (Wanganui) in the semi-final (second life) of the championship doubles. Results:— Open Championship.—Semi-final: A. G. Ross (Palmerston North) beat D. McClymont (Wanganui), 26-13, 26-19. Championship Doubles.—Third round (first life): R. McCreath and Mrs McLeod beat Mesdames Ward and Crone, 26-21. Semi-final (first life): W. S. Beamish and Mrs Clark beat R. McCreath and Mrs McLeod, 26-21; H. C. Ford and Miss Claughton beat Mesdames Cadwallader and Henderson, 26-13. Sqmi-final (second life): Kirk and Mrs Kirk beat A. G. Ross and A. E. Ogier, 26-15; Kitson and Mrs Kitson beat Mrs Baker and Miss Keating, Women’s Championship—Mrs Henderson beat Mrs Forsyth, 25-5, 12-26, 26-14; I Mrs Baker beat Mrs Walker. 26-18, 26-20; Mrs Kirk beat Mrs Cadwallader, 26-7, 2026. 26-17. Junior Championship.—Semi-final: Mrs Hammond beat Mrs O’Connell. 28-15; Mrs Hepburn beat Mrs Newall. Final (first life): Mrs Hammond (Wanganui) beat Mrs Draper (Te Aroha), 26-9. Handicap Singles.—Semi-final: Mrs Simpson (Auckland) beat Mrs Bourgeois (Wanganui). 26-21.
