LAWN TENNIS
CHANGE IN CANTERBURY TEAM A change had to be made yesterday in the Canterbury team which will challenge Wellington for the Wilding Shield tomorrow and on Saturday. S. Watson, fourth player in the team, suffered a slight injury to a wrist when cranking a tractor on his farm and, although medical opinion was that he would be fit for the match, he decided to withdraw because of the possibility of the injury affecting his play and the prospects of the team. E. D. White, first emergency, was not available at short notice, and B. R. Penfold was chosen to fill the gap. Two members of the women’s team which will play Wellington for the Nunneley Casket at the same time, also have slight disabilities. Mrs I. Hatherley has been suffering from recurrent trouble in one knee, and Miss A. Reese strained an ankle during practice on Tuesday evening. Miss I. Kitson. fifth on the provincial ranking list, has accompanied the team to Wellington as an emergency.
