BANK CLERK ADMITS THEFTS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 26. Leslie Colin Veitch, aged 42, a bank clerk, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, to-day, to the theft of £l5O in cash between July 28 1945 and December 17. 1948; also five natibnal savings bonds, valued at £54 15s. on or about April 13. 1948; three national savings bonds, valued at £33 7s 6d, on or about October 10, 1948; and seven national savings bonds, valued at £27 10s, on or about August 12, 1948. Both the money and the bonds were in the possession of the Reserve Bank.
In a statement, Veitch admitted the thefts. He said he had domestic worries. He intended to reimburse the parties who had lost through his action. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
