SHAKESPEARE’S PLAYS

BACONIANS REAFFIRM BELIEF (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) LONDON. January 24. Members of the Francis Bacon Society, who met for their sixty-sixth annual luncheon in London, once again affirmed their conviction that the plays of Shakespeare were in reality the work of Francis Bacon. One speaker referred to Shakespeare as “that rascal.” Another denied the story that Baconians believe Bacon to be the legitimate son of a secret marriage between Queen Elizabeth and the Earl of Essex. It was reported during the meeting that the New Zealand membership of the society had increased from one to 20 during the last year, and that the full membership of the society was now 500.
