CRIMES IN OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND
POLICE INVESTIGATIONS “The Press” Special Service ■INVERCARGILL, January 25. Detective-Sergeant A. W. McDougall, of the Invercargill detective office, and Detective-Sergeant McD. Brown, of the Dunedin office, recently visited Christchurch to question two men who are in custody. As a result the men will probably be charged with breaking, entering and theft from the premises of Horn and Sons, Middlemarch, and Thomson and Beattie, Invercargill. From the latter premises £824 was stolen.
A man was arrested in Invercargill and charged with the theft of £613, the property of Hunter’s Garage, Ltd., between December 24 and January 16. The offices of the Invercargill City Council were entered during the weekend but nothing was taken. Drawers were opened and papers thrown about Entry was made by breaking a glass panel in a door leading to the Town Clerk’s room.
